Cath Brown

LLB (Hons), Solicitor

A legal professional with a friendly, calm and structured approach that is very reassuring to clients.

Prior to joining Harries Watkins Jones, Cath headed a number of Wills and Probate departments for local firms of Solicitors.

Cath was born and raised in Porthcawl attending both St Clare’s Convent Grammar School and Porthcawl Comprehensive School.  She studied Law at Cardiff University and after graduating trained with a Bridgend firm of solicitors.

Cath chose to specialise in Wills, Probate and Estate Administration and was subsequently appointed Head of Department at the firm, a role which she enjoyed for many happy years.  She subsequently worked for several other local firms based in Bridgend, Porthcawl and Swansea.

Over the year Cath has dealt with many clients from many different backgrounds. Assisting with their  Inheritance Tax planning and dealing with both large and small estates.  She believes that Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) are some of the most vitally important legal documents  you will ever need. Unfortunately, life is unpredictable and these are the best legal  methods available to ensure we are looked after in life and provide for those we love after our death.

Cath is passionate about her work and considers herself fortunate to be able to help many clients who live locally, whom she known for many years. The local community is very important to Cath, reflected by the fact she has served on Porthcawl Town Council as a local councillor and as a school governor at both the Heronsbridge School in Bridgend and Nottage Primary school in Porthcawl. She is currently serving as a school governor at Porthcawl Comprehensive School a role which she particularly enjoys.

“It is satisfying to live as a Porthcawl resident and be working locally in Wills and Probate, whilst being able to assist and serve my local community.”, Cath commented.
